New (to me) Flames of War Strelkovy Company

As part of a trade with Adam, I got a very nicely painted Flames of War Strelkovy Company with both the Rifle/MG and SMG options and some other models (such as PTRD Anti Tank Rifles, Company Command, Komissars, 45mm obr 142 guns, etc).  Also in the trade, a recce Flames of War Strelkovy Scout Platoon with a nice camo pattern.  Some pictures below.  I have already talked in this blog about the Longstreet laser cut moving trays I gave him in the trade, but I think that what I got merits its own post.

The models are very nicely painted and they come in a painting and basing style that complements my army.  Similar enough to look coherent, but with the bases painted a bit darker – something that can help in identifying two different platoons.

The only thing I had to do to the models was to add magnets to the bases.  I normally use Neodymium magnets that I put just below the putty I use for the bases.  These models, however, were already finished and I had to use the Battlefront / Gale Force Nine’s supplied Flames of War base magnets.  I find this extremely useful – as it allows for two things:

  • Transporting/displaying the models during a tournament in a metal tray in a way that reduces the chance of accidentally dropping the models and breaking them.
  • Storage in metal tool cabinets at home.

I can’t wait to try these models. They will complete a Strelkovy Batalon that I have been building for a while.  They added a lot of flexibility to my army and by providing something of trade in exchange, saved me from painting a lot of models.
